Major San Pelagio Seminary
Location:
It is located next to the river, between the Puerta del Puente and the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, with access from Calle Amador de los Ríos.
Origin:
At the end of the 16th century, the Bishop of Cordoba bought a building next to the Episcopal Palace for the creation of a school for seminarians.
Use:
Although it began as a school of philosophy and theology for future priests, its subjects were expanded over time and are now academically recognised.
Teaching activity had two brief interruptions that gave way to military use, specifically during the French occupation and the Spanish Civil War.
