Location: 
This bridge connects the Plaza de Andalucía with the Avenida Conde de Vallellano, to the west of the Puente Romano.

Origin: 
It was built in 1953 under the guidelines of engineer Santiago García Gallego, and throughout the second half of the 20th century it was the main entrance and exit road to the south of the city.

Use: 
In the middle of the 20th century, Cordoba needed an alternative crossing point in addition to the Roman Bridge which, due to its age, size and location, was showing signs of congestion in light of the massive influx of cars. The San Rafael Bridge made it possible to cross the Guadalquivir via a more modern and wider infrastructure instead of the old National IV, creating a direct access road to the city’s financial and commercial centre.
