Location: 
A few metres from the Arco del Portillo, one of the entrances to the historic city located on the eastern side of the walled perimeter, we find the Calle Cabezas. Here there are a series of dead-end streets including the Calleja de los Arquillos, which is linked to the mysterious Casa de las Cabezas (House of Heads).

Origin: 
In order to talk about the Casa de las Cabezas, it is necessary to go back to the 10th century. According to popular sources, the Hajib of Hisham II, Almanzor, chose this site to build an Alcazar.
According to Ambrosio de Morales, this same space served as a prison for Gonzalo Gustioz, the father of the Siete Infantes de Lara, who underwent a harrowing imprisonment that led to the worst possible outcome.
Later, at the beginning of the 16th century, the interior of the Casa de las Cabezas was notable for the existence of a Synagogue, which was destroyed by the Inquisitor Diego Rodríguez Lucero, leading to a terrible Auto-da-fé (act of faith), as recorded in the sources.
