Arenal Bridge
Location:
This is the first bridge that the Guadalquivir River encounters on its way through Cordoba, next to the El Arenal site where the “Nuevo Arcángel” stadium is also located.
Origin:
It was built in 1993 based on a project by engineers José Antonio Fernández Ordóñez and Julio Martínez Calzón, with the intention of connecting the two riverbanks that divide the city into two on the east.
Use:
Its construction was essential for a modernised and increasingly extensive Cordoba, which needed a new access to the El Arenal area without having to cross the historic centre. It also serves as a connection to several motorways and national roads.
