Midà Almanzor (Remains of ablutions room)

Location:
Calle Magistral González Francés is home to one of the city’s archaeological secrets, as several of the buildings located here house the remains of one of the ablutions or “mida’a” pavilions linked to the Aljama Mosque of Córdoba.

Origin:
This ablutions pavilion was built at the end of the 10th century, when Caliph Hisam II was at the head of political power in ancient Qurtuba. It was his first minister or habjib, Almanzor, who ordered the construction of this large public pavilion.
